There are so many ways to make money online, that there really shouldn’t be any excuse as to why you can’t figure out a way that works for you. I get it, maybe you don’t know what to do or how to get started (thank God you’re here) but maybe you’ve just been dragging your feet, overcomplicating things or watching everyone else on Beyonce’s internet get after it while you stay stuck in your “well maybe I should try that” mode.

Making money online doesn’t have to be hard. It’s not complex or something that requires luck. But what you can’t do, if you want to make a living selling your knowledge online is NOT TAKE ANY ACTION!

So, the skinny of it all is that you need 5 things to start earning an income online:

• A good offer (aka product or service)
• A community of people (attention and awareness)
• A landing page (to show the solution)
• A way to accept payment (so you can get paid)
• A way to deliver your product or service

So with that understood, let’s tackle the “good offer” part first!

1. Offer Your Skill as a Service

Got a skill? Great. Let’s monetize it. Whether you’re a wordsmith, spreadsheet wizard, or Canva queen, there’s someone out there who needs what you’ve got.

Examples:

• Write ad copy for businesses
• Ghostwrite blogs for a small business
• Manage social media accounts

Pro Tips:

• Optimize your LinkedIn or Instagram bio to make it obvious what you offer.
• Start with friends or local businesses to build your cred.

Reality Check: You don’t need fancy tools or years of experience. All you need is your laptop and a Wi-Fi connection. Chop Chop.

2. Create and Sell Digital Products

• Write about what you LOVE because blogging takes consistency.

Reality Check: Blogging is a slow burn. But the payoff? Sweet.

5. Teach Online Classes

If you’re an expert at something – whether it’s baking, coding, or yoga – teaching online classes can be a lucrative and fulfilling option.

Examples:

• Offer live yoga sessions via Zoom
• Teach baking techniques through pre-recorded videos
• Provide coding tutorials on platforms like Teachable or Udemy

Pro Tips:

• Start with one course and expand as you grow your audience.
• Engage with your students and ask for feedback to improve.

Reality Check: Teaching requires preparation and patience, but helping others learn your craft? Totally worth it.

6. Become a Consultant

Got years of experience in a specific field? Share that knowledge and charge for it.

Examples:

• Personal branding consulting

Pro Tips:

• Create a killer portfolio to showcase your expertise.
• Network on LinkedIn and attend industry-specific events.

Reality Check: Consulting is lucrative but requires hustle to find clients, especially early on.

7. Launch an Online Store

E-commerce is booming, and it’s easier than ever to set up an online store. Whether you’re selling handmade crafts or dropshipping products, the opportunities are endless.

Examples:

• Custom t-shirts or mugs
• Handcrafted jewelry or candles
• Dropshipping items like gadgets or decor

Pro Tips:

• Use platforms like WooCommerce,  Shopify or Etsy to get started quickly.
• Invest time in product imagery and SEO descriptions.

Reality Check: Customer service and logistics can be time-consuming, but with the right tools, you can automate most of it.

The key, especially when you are getting started is you use free, low-cost, and user-friendly tools and software to make growing your business easier.

We use Convertkit for our email marketing system, we’ve been using them since the beginning. ConvertKit is an email tool that utilizes Broadcasts, Sequences, Automations, Tags, Segments, and more to help you email the right people the right message, every time.

LeadPages

I build all my sales pages, opt-in pages, virtual event pages and more on Leadpages! It’s so simple and easy to set up and has all the features I need to create sales pages that are simple but still stylish. It’s a landing page builder and a website builder tool.

Airtable

I love, love, love Airtable! I use Airtable to stay organized, create custom databases, and as a framework for many of the digital products I create. For example, I have multiple dashboards that I sell as templates. I also use Airtable bases to organize our testimonials, to prep and brainstorm content, and more. It’s super versatile and I love the user experience.

Deadline Funnel 

We’ve used Deadline Funnel to create authentic countdown timers for our pages, emails and promotions. For example, if we have a live launch cart open happening, we’ll make sure there is a Deadline Funnel countdown timer on the page to let people know when the doors close. This tool can also be used to create authentic timers in evergreen funnels.
