How To Brainstorm (Passionate, Problem-Solving, Profitable) Business Ideas 1

It strikes like lightening. Or maybe in a dream. Or in the shower!

Seriously.

It’s that BIG idea that you know in an instant you are meant to make happen.

The best ideas are usually the simplest ideas and many times it’s not the BIG idea that makes millions but the BIG marketing behind the idea.

Big ideas have no boundaries, age limits, race restrictions, time lines or economic class. They can strike when you least expect them. During a midlife crisis. After a long battle with an illness. During moments of frustration. Or in the event you realize you can’t play (or get paid to play) sports forever.

You don’t have to have a lot of money or experience to start our own online business. You do need to have passion and drive. You need to be hungry, dedicated and committed to following through.

Anyone can start a business and succeed if they have a good enough idea, a good target market and the will to make things happen. There is no business that is off-limits. You can purchase a business opportunity, buy a franchise, launch our own business from your home. You think it, you can do it.

Ready to start that business you’ve been dreaming about?

Let’s find you that BIG idea!

Want To Start The Right Business? Find Your Sweet Spot

Ultimately, your business is the bridge between POINT A (where your perfect fit fan is) and POINT Z (where they want to be). That gap is “YOUR PROFITABLE & PASSION-DRIVEN BUSINESS IDEA” and that idea (product/blog/business) needs to reside in what I like to call your “sweet spot.”

How do you find your entrepreneurial sweet spot?  The sweet spot is created when all of the following criteria are met:

  1. There is a passion behind your idea
  2. There is a “pothole” or unmet need in the marketplace:
  3. There is a profitable incentive to pursue an idea
Passion, Profit, Pothole

Most people don’t think they can build a successful and wildly profitable business around their own passions. Well, you can take what you love to do, use your unique talents and gifts and make an impact the world has never seen before…as long as it makes good business sense.

Yes, any passionate idea can become a profitable idea IF you can position and align your passion with the right audience (your perfect fit fan). While it’s a good start, your business is not automatically going to be a home run because you love it so much.

Brainstorming Passion-Driven Ideas

Need help finding your passion? Here are a few questions to help you uncover what you love:

  • If you could start a business doing anything in the world, what would it be?
  • If you could get paid to do or make something for others what would it be?
  • What do you do in your free time?
  • What fills you up with the most excitement, enthusiasm, passion?
  • What are you amazing at (professionally or in your personal life)?
  • What can you do that just comes with little to no effort?
  • You feel free, incredibly useful, inspired, at peace, in your sweet spot when you are doing what?
  • How would you like to be seen, recognized, acknowledged, praised?
  • What would someone pay you $100/hour to educate/teach/inform them about?
  • What are you continuously telling/showing/explaining to people?

The important thing is to think about all the things you love. Don’t hold anything back during the brainstorming process. If you know you want to start a business but aren’t sure where to start or what passion you should follow, don’t rule anything out right away. Maybe you know you want to have an online store but aren’t sure what to sell. Maybe you love to share amazing stories that inspires others but aren’t sure if you should launch a blog, write a book or host a web show. Maybe you have no idea what you’d want to do but you’re sure about living an EPIC life and not falling prey to the life after sports curse that keep so many athletes stuck.

Some people will tell you that following your passion is a bad idea – but without a true love for what you’re doing and a burning desire to be the best you can be, you will never be able to push yourself to do what needs to be done to achieve at your greatest potential.

Brainstorming Ideas That Fill A Pothole

Now before you go out building a business based on your passion, there are a few more things you’ll want to consider. Will anyone buy my product and is there money to be made.

Many businesses are born out of a desire to solve a personal problem or handle an unmet need in the marketplace. But before you shoot your wad on expensive websites, business cards, product packaging and marketing campaigns your initial goal is to see if anyone actually wants what you have to offer. No matter how passionate you are about your idea, other people have to be passionate about it too. Your business idea must satisfy a need or solve a problem.

Here are sample questions to get you going.  Adjust these questions based on your unique business idea.

Filling Potholes Sample Questions

  • What’s something I wish I had when I started __________ ?
  • Something I wish existed when I was in high school, college, a new mom?
  • What do I really wish I could do right now but can’t?
  • What little thing is frustrating me everyday?
  • Have you ever paid for a product/service but felt like something was missing?
  • Can you improve or put a unique twist on the product?

This could just be the beginning of your million dollar idea. Don’t hold back.

I want to let you in on a big secret. A great idea does not have to come from some inner lightening strike or ah ha moment. A great idea can be inspired by someone else’s innovative insight that prompts you to want to do it better or add a unique twist. Re-inventing the wheel is not a requirement to building a wildly successful dollar business.

How To Brainstorm (Passionate, Problem-Solving, Profitable) Business Ideas

Brainstorming Ideas That Are Profitable

While a passion-driven business is important, ensuring your business makes money is just as (if not more) important. Passion don’t pay the bills! Money does!

Before you start any business venture you need to be 100% sure there is MONEY TO BE MADE. No money means no business!

While the pursuit of money should not be the SOLE driving force to starting a business, passion without a viable income model makes it a hobby. And the last I checked we were all starting a business that is capable of supporting a great living, right?

Right! So while following your passion and doing what you love is the best determining factor for long term success, you want to vet your ideas to ensure you start a business or blog that can satisfy your financial and lifestyle goals.

How do you know if your idea is a money maker?

The only way to determine if there is REAL interest is to experiment and test. I share a number of  fail-proof strategies on how to validate your passion-driven business idea in my Passion To Profits Playbook: Turn Your Life After Sports Passion Into A Profitable Blog or Online Business but today I want to share with you one of my absolute favorites:

AMAZON, Yep. Amazon!

If I want to know if an idea or niche will make money, my go-to resource is AMAZON, the world’s #1 online retailer! If it can’t be found on Amazon, it probably doesn’t exist. See what people are buying, either in the Kindle eBooks section or the products section depending on whether you’re interested in blogging/writing or selling physical items.

How popular are items or books similar to your idea or in your niche?

Simply type in your business idea or related keywords into the search bar and see what products come up. That list you see? Those are the most popular searches right there. Are there a ton of products about your topic already? Are there zero? If there is a lot of “selling” activity around your keywords then there is a good chance your idea can make money for you too.

Next, take a look at the reviews that items or books in your niche get. Is there a complaint that you could address in your own business? Remember, I just told you you don’t have to re-invent the wheel, just find a way to make it better!

These exercises, which are pulled straight out of my Passion To Profits Playbook, are good practice if you’re not sure which direction you should go in, you have a ton of ideas but aren’t sure what to pursue, or if you have no idea what you’d like to do but know you want to find your fortune off the field and outside the lines of the traditional 9-5.

If you are ready to consciously and strategically decide what business idea deserves your undivided attention and resources, this is the guide for you. By now you should have more than a few ideas running through that brain of yours and some of the things you wrote down have given you goosebumps. Yeah, that feeling you get when you know you are on the verge of accomplishing something awesome!

Now that you can clearly see all the things you’re passionate at, all the things you could help someone with and all the things you can make money pursuing, start coming up with passion-drive, problem-solving, profitable business ideas that are in alignment with your own lifestyle goals and dreams.

If you want the play by play for drafting your #1 business idea and turning it into massive income, check out the Passion To Profits Playbook here!
