When people say “turn your passion into profits” or “make passive income online,” it often feels easier said than done. So, when it comes to creating your digital course, how do you take a seemingly “easier said than done” task and turn it into a manageable, achievable project?
I launched my first course, “The MLM Crash Course”, with a whole host of ideas and little to no know-how! Yes, I used to be a network marketer, a quite successful one at that, but when I decided to turn my passion for helping women create financial freedom through entrepreneurship into a course, I must admit, I was venturing into unknown territory.
The course wasn’t perfect, it didn’t even really sell that well when I launched it, but eventually, it laid the foundation for what would become my first $100K year.
Whether you’re a side hustle chick looking for ways to add an additional source of income to your regular 9-5 job, or you’re running an online empire and looking to create multiple streams of income, a digital online course can be a great asset to your business.
Now, if that move seems easier said than done, let’s break down the simple steps you can start taking today, to actually get it done.
break into the online course creator’s mindset ::
You will NEVER be able to create a profitable course if you don’t BELIEVE that you can. The #1 mindset shift every successful course creator must embrace (and this is something I talk about at the beginning of every course I deliver) is BELIEF.
→ Belief in your own expertise.
→ Belief in your teaching style.
→ Belief in in transformation you deliver.
This is the hardest part of the course creation process. There are so many amazing courses that the world never sees because the person creating it didn’t truly believe in what they had to offer.
→ Don’t doubt your skills.
→ Don’t doubt your ideas.
→ Don’t doubt yourself.
Will everyone you share your course with buy what you’re selling?
No, but don’t ever let someone saying NO or NOT RIGHT NOW make you feel that you shouldn’t be selling your course or make you feel that it is not great.
It is!
So, set your fear aside, and crank up the confidence. The more you sell, the more of a confident course creator you will become.
nail down your online course topic ::
Your niche is your specific focus and the specific person that you serve. But within that niche, there could be a number of different topics you could create an online course about.
So, how do you choose which topic to turn into a course?
When it comes to developing your online course, it really comes down to showing off what you know and then paying attention to the most prevalent challenges your audience is dealing with.
What are people constantly asking you for help on?
What processes have you created that have made your life easier?
What information did you wish you had when you were first getting started?
What routines do you regularly practice to get a desired result?
What tools do you use to accomplish an outcome faster?
These are all things you will want to think about when narrowing down potential online course topics.
You also want to create an online course that you don’t mind talking about ad nauseam.
Think about topics that you enjoy teaching
Think about topics that feel natural to teach
Think about topics that you can confidently communicate the concepts on
Remember, when I said no course is created equal, well that holds true for the size of your online course too.
Don’t feel like you have to create a mega course the first go-round. In fact, I recommend that you focus on delivering a simple, actionable solution that you KNOW your audience will respond well to.
Talk to your subscribers, reach out to old clients, research industry peers, and see what people are struggling with to see if your course idea would be a good fit for them.
I can guarantee that WHAT you teach is not novel or new, but HOW you teach it will be. Use that to your advantage. Put your own style and vibe on the way you deliver your content. Your personal process is and will always be what sets you apart. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain, be creative and leverage your personality in a way that really resonates with the people you desire to serve.
It’s more fun that way!

determine how you want to deliver your digital course ::
Not all courses are created equal, nor should they be.
Some courses are video based while others are audio based.
Some courses include 1 lesson while others have 100 lessons.
Some courses are delivered LIVE while others a SELF-PACED
There is no right or wrong way to deliver your course. And I want you to understand that your potential students can get just as much value out of a video course as they can from an audio course or a course with 3 modules vs. one that has 50 modules.
The goal though, is to make sure your methods are delivered in a way that drives results as quickly and clearly as possible.
There are a lot of decisions that have to be made when it comes to how you want to deliver the goods and it can feel daunting especially if you are worried about the “techie” stuff but I want to remind you that you don’t need a bunch of fancy bells and whistles to launch a quality course.
Plus, there are so many DFY course-building platforms available to online course creators these days that course creation has become easier than ever.
If you are not sure which tools you need, here are a few tools and resources I’ve tried and tested in my course creation business.
And while you can figure out all of the pieces to putting together your first course yourself, you don’t have to. As someone who has been creating online courses and digital products for over a decade now, I’ve mastered quite the process of creating profitable passive income-generating offers.

start growing a list of potential course students ::
The ONE thing I didn’t do when it was time for me to launch my first course was have a list of potential course students to sell to ahead of time. The “build it and they will come” analogy doesn’t work well when you’re launching an online course and want to make money right away, and that mentality will leave you broke!
Thank God I learn quickly.
The people you are creating your course for, need to know about you. It doesn’t matter how great your course is if no one knows about you. If no one knows about your course. If no one knows about the value that is inside of that course. If you don’t have anyone to sell your course to!
You want to grow your audience and get them excited about the course you are selling even before you start creating your course so when it is time to launch, you already have a community of potential students that “get you” and understand the value you’re capable of delivering.
Growing the audience first allows you to engage with people who are already interested in your content. It also allows you to get feedback from your most loyal fans which can be valuable input when making decisions about how you want to develop, structure, and deliver your course.
price your online course to sell ::
What is the true value of your online course?
It’s a question that can cost you tens of thousands of dollars in profits if you are unsure!
When you know who your course is for and the value of the transformation your course provides, it makes it easier to get your course in front of people who are willing to pay for the course you are creating.
It is important to know how truly valuable your online course is. This can help you with positioning, feeling really good about premium pricing, and how you present the value of your course on your sales page.
Your price will depend on:
→ Your Niche
→ Your Ideal Student
→ The Result/Outcome
→ Your Confidence!
At the end of the day, the MORE value you add, the more you can justify a higher price point!
WomanpreneuHER Pro Tip :: For your first launch, you will choose a price that is “premium” but not the “final” price you want your course to have. You don’t want to undervalue and underprice your course, because it will make other people undervalue your course and maybe even think there is something wrong with it if it’s “too cheap”. You also do not want to compete on price! That is a race to the bottom and it NEVER works in your favor.

There was ONE big advantage I had when I created and launched my first online course: a coach. As a former Olympic Gold Medal Winning athlete, I knew firsthand the importance of having a coach guide you toward success.
I knew that if I wanted my online business to succeed, I needed to have someone who could show me the ropes, teach me step-by-step what they knew, and help me avoid the common pitfalls that derail so many potential course creators who do not have a clear set of actions to take.
I didn’t want to guess what I needed to do, I wanted to know what I needed to do and in what order so I could just about guarantee my success!
And now, I’m here to help you do the same inside of WomanpreneuHER University, a SELF-PACED training experience and private community where I’ll guide you through the crucial steps to creating and selling a profitable online offer of your own.
I’ll walk you through EVERYTHING I talk about in this blog post: nailing your niche, perfecting your million-dollar course idea, choosing your course type, picking the perfect price, creating your lead magnet (to make building your email list of potential course students even easier), and what a successful course launch looks like behind the scenes!
