Love it or hate it, Facebook is the one social media platform you just can’t ignore.
And with all of its tools, from Facebook Pages to Facebook groups, it’s still a goldmine for course creators who want to be able to tap into a quality source of traffic.
So, with that in mind, I want to talk about one Facebook tool in particular that can change the game for your business. Let’s talk Facebook Live!
How To Grow Your Influence and Income with Facebook Lives.
01. Facebook Live Helps You Build Your Authority.
People buy from people they know, like and trust. Yes, it’s true! It’s not about who has the best content, it’s who has other best known content! So, one of the best ways to show people that your online course is worth paying for, is to give them some expert content for free.
There are a ton of ways to deliver free content. You can host a webinar, publish a blog post, or record a video series but Facebook Live is quickly becoming the perfect platform for delivering results-driven, informative content to your audience, without making them opt-in or feel like they have to commit to showing up for a 90 minute masterclass.
So while you may not be able to necessarily capture email addresses through your Facebook Live, what you can do is build a loyal following of viewers who you can invite to your email list with a simple call to action. You can also retarget people who watch your lives if you are running sponsored posts to your sales pages or you can run ads to where you put the replay of your live in front of a wider audience which will help increase your exposure and reach!
All the social media platforms from Instagram to Facebook to Pinterest, favor video in its algorithms right now, so when you focus on adding Facebook Lives to your content strategy you have the added benefit that your content will be seen by more people than your average quote or carousel post.
Now as with anything consistency is key, so you want to make sure you are doing your Facebook Lives consistently. Adding a live to your weekly content plan is a good idea so you get into the habit of going live regularly!
02. Facebook Live Helps You Connect With Your Ideal Customer.
Video is one of the best methods for building relationships with your audience. Real-time live interaction gives your audience a front row seat into who you are as a brand and business.
People can see who you are, hear your voice and feel your personality during a live video. When people can see you and interact with you in real time, they feel like they are a part of your world. You become real to them and it creates a much deeper connection that you just can’t get through an email or blog post.
When going live you want to give people the real you,m show them who you are behind the scenes, and invite them to explore your world. Yes, regular coaching and educational content is cool but what people are going to connect with is your lifestyle and story.
With lives it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being real.
03. Facebook Live Helps You Deliver More Value.
If you have your own Facebook Page or Facebook Group start using Facebook Live to deliver added value to your audience. Whether it’s for free or a part of your paid online course or membership community, using Facebook Live gives an added layer of support and attentiveness that a lot of people don’t get in other communities.
You can hop into your free group with quick tips and short tutorials or you can create “Ask Me Anything” Q&A sessions for you paid members.
Plus, if you’re using a Facebook group as part of your paid online course then your lives can become bonus content that you can either repurpose or add to your inside of your course training hub site for students who couldn’t make it live.
04. Facebook Live Helps You Monetize Your Facebook Group.
Because of the popularity of lives, a lot of group admins are monetizing their “free” groups by allowing members to pay to go live! Now of course the larger your group, the more effective this will be, but I know admins that charge anywhere from $25 per live up to $97 a month to give their members the opportunity to be able to do pomo posts and Facebook Lives regularly in their groups.
Now the downside to this is that it is hard to control the quality of content. So it is important to set some criteria and ground rules so everyone going live in your groups knows the best practices for sharing content.
05. Facebook Live Helps You Sell More.
Another way for you to monetize your group and convert more people into your online course using Facebook Lives is to add a call to action. Your call to action is simply an invitation to check out your offer.
Your call to action can encourage people to grab a lead magnet or content upgrade related to what you’ve talked about on your live or it can be an invitation to check out one of your paid offerings.
If you’re looking to encourage people to join your online course you could offer a free trial to viewers, or a special bonus for viewers who sign up before a certain time.
It is important to make sure that as you are providing content you are also aware that you’re here to grow your business and make money. Whether that’s driving people to your email list or buying a product – make sure you are moving people through your customer product map and toward a buying decision.
Quick tip: make sure you have a pretty link that you can use for your live videos if you’re going to send people to a special offer. You could even purchase an easy to remember custom domain that you can redirect to your links. The easier you make it for people to take the next step with you, the better.
06. Facebook Live Helps You Repurpose, Remix and Retarget Your Content.
You may be wondering how (and if) you can add one more thing to your already hectic marketing schedule. Well when it comes to doing Facebook Lives you can use content you already have as Live topics.
If you are already creating instagram captions, email broadcasts, blog posts, IGTV or YouTube videos you are set! All you have to do is repurpose the content you already have,
In fact, I take content directly from my courses, break them down into smaller points and use those as content for my live streams.
You can also cross post your Facebook Lives to your Pinterest, IGTV, YouTube, Vimeo and your blog! And if you went live in your FB group, you can create additional posts targeting those who missed the live, asking them to join your group to catch the entire replay or using the live as a lead magnet to encourage people to opt-in to your email list to be able to check it out!
Look, there’s a ton of different things that you could do to make the most of your Facebook Lives, even after the live has ended.
So while going live, and putting yourself out there for the entire world to see, is not for everyone, if you can muster up the courage to go live every once in a while, it can have a huge impact on the success of your online business!
