Why You Should Explore Becoming A Motivational and Entrepreneurial Success Speaker

Do you know one of the biggest reasons for my phenomenal success online came from me speaking offline? After all the blogging, online marketing, and social networking I was offered the opportunity to speak at my first event as an online entrepreneur. It turned out to be a huge business booster and what I consider the catalyst to the biggest turning point in 2011 for my online career.

Now I’m not saying you don’t need to build your reputation online, learn various marketing strategies and leverage the power of social media. Absolutely you do!

But the mark of a successful entrepreneur is becoming a great networker…and great networkers, well they strategically NETWORK not just among the social media circles of influence but among the offline circles as well.

Speaking from the stage puts you in the position of authority. You are seen as an expert in your field and if you do it well, people will leave your event feeling more knowledgeable, inspired and empowered. And if you do a good job, all of those in attendance, will be running online to get to know you more.

Now some of you may be thinking, what should I talk about? Well speak on what you know. I speak on anything from winning mindset, marketing, social media, and entrepreneurship to becoming a better athlete.

Think about what excites you, your life experiences, what you’ve learned that can help others enhance their own lives.

I noticed that when I started speaking, whether it was in front of a small group or hundreds of people it gave me new outlet to showcase my value. The more I spoke to more my business flourished.

1. People got to know me in a whole new way. It put attached a real person to the online persona.
2. They began to recognize and become familiar with my personal brand.
3. People started to friend and follow me on the social networks (Facebook, Twitter, my blog).
4. I got more consulting requests.
5. And people began to reach out and open up conversation with me.

As with anything, you are not going to see some cosmic explosion of your business overnight. But speaking plants seeds, it opens the door to new partnerships, it gets you out of the social media bubble and it broadens your audience and platform.

Now all of this didn’t happen right away, but if I looked at when I first started speaking compared to after I’ve given over 30 speeches, there was a big difference in how much money my company was making.

Succeeding as an entrepreneur starts with speaking. If you’re a little scared of public speaking (most people are), start at smaller, more intimate venues then progress to larger conferences. The more you speak the more confident you’ll become and the more money you’ll make…so I’m sure at some point you’ll get over the stage fright.

Speaking + Entrepreneurship = More Income. PERIOD!

Here’s a quick gameplan to developing your speaking skills:

1. Know what you want to talk about
2. Study other successful speakers
3. Find your voice and speaking style
4. Visualize yourself on stage
5. Practice makes perfect
6. Record your speaking engagements
7. Be positive – the audience can feel your energy
8. Act on every opportunity you can to speak.
